Why Choose Career Advancement Skills?
If you are a College of Liberal Arts (COLA) student, you already completed three of the six career advancement skills I courses while fulfilling Wright State Core and college requirements. Non-COLA students complete two courses automatically.
The Career Advancement Skills II certificate allows you to acquire a credential after honing overarching skills and knowledge desired by employers.
Both programs offer online course options. Transfer credit may be applied.
Career Advancement Skills I
- Critical reading and writing
- Research writing and argumentation
- Public speaking
- Multicultural competence
- Complex thinking
Career Advancement Skills II
- Work with a career advisor to select from a list of courses.
Academics and Curriculum
Students completing the certificate will demonstrate the attainment of knowledge and skills that meet the needs of the workforce as articulated by business executives and hiring managers. These skills include the ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form, critical thinking, multicultural competency, and ethical judgment.
This certificate requires 18 credit hours in addition to any course prerequisites.
